About Course

The Project Management course at LABE prepares learners to confidently manage projects from initiation to closure across any industry. This program introduces the core principles, frameworks, and practical techniques used by successful project managers while providing hands-on exposure to assignments, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and real project scenarios.

Across four (4) structured weeks, learners explore the full project lifecycle, key project roles, project scope, requirements gathering, cost management, and planning essentials. The course examines major project management methodologies including Agile, Waterfall, and PRINCE2, and provides practical insights into the Agile Scrum process and roles. Participants also gain skills in stakeholder management, conflict handling, change management, and the RAIDs structure for managing risks and dependencies.

The course includes a detailed look at the PMO environment covering PMO frameworks, functions, deliverables, and organisational structure. Learners also develop the ability to prepare professional project reports, including status reports, event driven reports, highlight reports, exception reports, lessons learned reports, and closure reports. Practical training in Microsoft Project helps learners translate theory into real project planning.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with a strong foundation in project practices and ready to operate confidently in project teams, PMO settings, and fast-paced Agile environments.

Course Content

Introduction to Project Management (Week 1)
Week 1 provides a strong foundation in project management by introducing learners to what a project is, the characteristics that define it, and why effective project management is important. Participants explore key principles, major frameworks, and the five stages of the project lifecycle. The week also covers essential project roles, including the Project Manager, PMO, and Change Manager, along with an introduction to planning concepts such as project scope, requirement gathering, cost management, and project methodologies. Learners are also introduced to Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2, quality management, and the Scrum process. The week concludes with a practical task or assignment to reinforce understanding and prepare learners for real project scenarios.

Stakeholder and Change Management Essentials (Week 2)
Week 2 focuses on the people side of project management by deepening learners’ understanding of stakeholder management and change management. Participants learn the importance of identifying stakeholders, analysing their influence, managing expectations, and handling conflicts effectively. Tools such as the RACI Matrix, RAIDs, and dependency types are introduced to help learners manage responsibilities, risks, and project uncertainties. The week also covers strategies for preventing scope creep and maintaining project alignment. Additionally, learners explore the change management process and how to manage resistance during transitions. Week 2 includes assignment presentations, practical exercises, and a dedicated Q and A session to reinforce learning and build confidence.

PMO Structure, Functions, and Tools (Week 3)
Week 3 introduces learners to the Project Management Office and its critical role in supporting project delivery across organisations. Participants explore the PMO framework, its core functions, goals, and the value it brings to project governance and performance. The week explains the different types of PMOs, how they operate, and how they support project managers through standards, templates, reporting, and oversight. Learners also examine PMO tools, organisational charts, and the structures that enable effective coordination and accountability. Assignment presentations and a Q and A session help reinforce concepts while allowing learners to apply what they have learned in real project contexts.

Project Reporting and Closure (Week 4)
Week 4 focuses on developing strong reporting and documentation skills that are essential for effective project management. Learners explore the purpose and importance of project reports and how to communicate progress clearly and accurately. The curriculum covers different types of reports including status reports, event driven reports, highlight reports, issues reports, exception reports, lessons learned reports, and project closure reports. Participants also learn the key elements that should be included in each report and how to structure information for stakeholders. Practical training on using Microsoft Project helps learners convert plans into actionable tasks and timelines. The week concludes with assignment presentations and a final Q and A session to reinforce competence in project reporting and readiness for real project environments.

Project Management tools
This module equips learners with the practical skills needed to use essential project management tools in real work environments. Students are introduced to Basecamp and Microsoft Project through step-by-step tutorials that cover project setup, team onboarding, collaboration, task management, and progress tracking. The module also includes a hands-on project planning session that allows learners to apply these tools to real project scenarios, strengthening their ability to manage tasks, timelines, and communication effectively.

Job Workshop
The Job Workshop module is designed to prepare learners for real-world job opportunities in Project Management and PMO roles. Through practical videos and guided sessions, students learn how to create a strong CV, where to publish it for maximum visibility, and how to position themselves for entry-level PMO Analyst roles. The module also covers interview preparation, essential interview tips, and a hands-on job readiness workshop that helps learners build confidence and present themselves professionally in the job market.
